4500 years back, approximately year 540 Imperial Era, the wife of Zabal Mardaz died in a terrible curse.View Count: 399 Zabal was a really powerful wizard back then after having been a good student under the legendary archmage Damon Yang. The death of his wife affected his life, radically. From being a normal powerful wizard, he cahnged into a madman. He totally changed his school in the Arcane Force to Necromancy. He dvelved deep in the necromantic forces, really to deep. Anything to remove the all to powerful curse from the corpse of his wife, and then to resurrect her, restore her to life. He was desperate. He even stole a part of the roots from the Holy Tree in the elven city Thama, which the elves answered with a death sentence. He was not hunted by the elves for one of his crimes. His list slowly grew, and grew. After many years of evasive maneuverings to stay out of range from the elves, he had acquired a sense of respect from other races that hated the elves, such as the Orcs. For each year his followers increased in numbers. His followers started to conquer kingdoms in his name. All the necromantic powers had driven him insane. He used his forces to raid kingdom after kingdom, in the hunt for something to cure his wife. His forces spread wide over the continent, slaughtering and pillaging everything in their wake. Whole cities aflime, ashes blowing through the wind for leagues, inviting more and more of the evil side to his forces. Zhahalan didn't really see the world trough a mortals eye anymore. All he could see was a way to cure his wife. The outside world was not entirely ignorant of what Zhahalan was doing. They group together to bring justice. For years small covert groups was sent to the center of his camps, for the opportunity to assassinate Zhahalan. No one returned from those operations. And so they gathered huge armies, and marched for war against the armies of Zhahalan. War erupted, lasted for years, spanning far over empires and kingdoms, and crushing anything in their way. In the end, there was no innocents, both sides had forced any man and women capable of walking to wield a weapon in this war. After 45 years of slaughter they had succeeded in killing Zhahalan. Upon his death the evil forces dispersed and went back to their hidings. The survivors slowly started to rebuild all that had been crushed. Zhahalan was at first buried in a normal graveyard, but they soon noticed that the necromatic powers would not let his soul rest. All bones close to his grave were animated, and so they had to move his body to another, more safe place. Zhahalan was taken to a place on the Elemental Plane of Fire where they buried him beneath powerful magical shields, thanks to Tyro, Tha'rach, and Shiro. Guards patrolled his grave each day and night to make sure no powers would escape. By the hundred of years that passed the powerful magical shields had dimnished in power, and Zhahalans necromantic powers grabbed the opportunity. In the end, all the guards had been turned to undead servants of Zhahalan. He was still trapped beneath the magical shields, but his powers could escape. Year 5040 Tha'rach, Shiro, and Alec dispelled the magical shields and released Zhahalan and killed him. But there is a more complex situation buried here. The Return of Zhahalan. |
