View Count: 291 ![]() Death Guard A protector of the Undead, a warrior sworn to protect the powers and secrets of the Lord of Negative Energy. A warrior that understands the importance in protecting the realm of undeath, and to keep the balance between the negative and positive forces. A warrior whos purpose is to increase the balance in favor of the Undead. But this does not mean total genocide! Such an act would never be accepted by the lord! Hit Die: d10. RequirementsTo qualify to become a Death Guard, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Alignment: Any Neutral. Base attack bonus: +10 Special: The character must have some relation towards the Lord of Negative Energy. Class SkillsClimb (Str), Concentration (Con), Diplomacy (Cha), Handle Animal (Cha), Hide (Dex), Jump (Str), Knowledge (Religion) (Int), Knowledge (Undead) (Int), Ride (Dex), Swim (Str). Class Features Weapon and Armor Proficiency Death Guards are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, with all types of armor, and with shields. Aura of Evil (Ex) The power of a Death Guard's aura of evil (See the detect evil spell) is equal to his hit dice. Detect Living (Sp) At will, a Death Guard can use Detect Living as a spell-like ability, duplicating the effect of Detect Good spell, but towards living creatures. Poison Use Death Guards are skilled in the use of poison and never risk accidentally poisoning themselves when applying poison to a blade. Dark Blessing (Su) A Death Guard applies his Charisma modifier (if positive) as a bonus on all saving throws. Smite Living (Su) Starting at level 3 and every 8 levels thereafter Death Guard may attempt to smite any living creature as a standard action attack. He adds his Charisma modifier to his attack roll and deals the specified HD multiplier as bonus damage. This power is useable 1 time plus HD/10 times per day. This power is useless towards any Undead and other creatures that is said to be without a soul, golems and the like. The epic feat Great Smite can NOT increase the damage output of this power. Aura of Despair (Su) Beginning at 3rd level, the Death Guard radiates a malign aura that causes enemies within 10 feet of him to take a -2 penalty on all saving throws. Touch of Morte Starting at level 4 and every 4 levels thereafter the Death Guard can sanctify the body of a recently killed creature (within a few rounds of death) to send the soul to the lord as a gift. In return the Death Guard will be healed of 2 hp per HD the creature has. For example, a 40 HD creature would give the Death Guard 80 hp. Undead Servant The Death Guard receives an undead mount. An corpse animated non-intelligent warhorse. It is not meant for battle, more of an show-off. The Death Guard can call for the undead servant whenever he so wishes. The summoning takes a few rounds and forces the bones up from the ground, recreating the horse each time. Sneak Attack This ability, gained at 2nd level, and every 4 levels thereafter, is like the rogue ability of the same name. If a Death Guard receives a sneak attack damage from another source, the bonuses on damage stack. Bonus feat At level 7 and every 7 levels thereafter the Death Guard may pick one feat from the following list: Blind-Fight, Combat Casting, Dodge, Mobility, Spring Attack, Improved Critical, Improved Initiative, Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave, Weapon Focus. Negative Resistance At level 9 and every 4 levels thereafter the Death Guard gains resistance against Negative Energy damage. Negative Bonus Damage At level 15 and every 5 levels thereafter the Death Guard receives a bonus damage to all attacks in the form of Negative Energy. |
