The year 9960 AE (Ancient Era), the Demonlord had finally found what he had been looking for tens of years, he was finally at its hidden place.
The Annulus, a very powerful Psionic artefact, so old that many of the current gods does not even remember it.
The Demonlord had stumbled upon this artefact during his lenghty sessions reading acient tomes, which he admired more than anything else.
The artefact, the Annulus, was hidden in a sacred crypt dedicated to The Mother. The Demonlord caused great destruction upon this crypt to retrieve the artefact.

The Mother, the one who had been given the privilege to protect The Annulus, was at first unaware of the importance of the breaking of this crypt.
To late she discovered that the Demonlord had penetrated her defenses and stolen the Annulus.
As of now, the Demonlord had the one thing that the gods fear the most, a means to annihilate even a Greater Deity.

The Demonlord as a Lesser Deity needed a great tactic to beat someone as the Reaper, a Greater Deity. He needed to disable some of his powers, he needed to disable the access to the Arcane magic.
He traveled to the Lost City of The Elves; Arirliana. Back then Arirliana was a powerful place regarding the Arcane force.
A well enough place to inject the Arcane force with foul demonic deteriorateing forces, that would eventually eat away the Arcane force.

The demonic forces was like a disease in the Arcane force, spreading faster and faster, converting the Arcane particles to something else, that would eventually eat itself up.
The Magus, God of Magic, battled the Demonlord to capture and try to force the Demonlord to undo what he had started.
This battle was gigantic. The Magus had his Arcane black sword against hordes of demons and the Demonlord himself with his powerful powers in the area of fire.
The devastation that followed also affected the inhabitants of Arirliana, the Elves. In the end the Mother caught up with the Demonlord but through great tactic from the Demonlord, she became ill.

The Mother became infested with these demonic forces, and was forced to enter a kind of hibernation, to slow its spreading, which would eventually kill her.
But before she left the battle, she explained to the Magus about Annulus, to make sure he fully understood what was at stake.
The Magus, being the God of Magic was in a bad situation. He could not trust his powers fully, cause of the magical disease infecting it.
He also knew that he would fail in this battle, and in turn, the Arcane force would in the end, be dead, lost to the world.
The Magus drew in all this infected force within his own body, to cleanse it, he knew that in the process, he would die.

The Magus was devoured in the process, but he saved the Arcane force, he saved billions of life from dying where the Arcane force was involved, like floating cities.
The Demonlord had lost his major tactical advantage. He now had to proceed without this protection. He was frustrated, and now that he had started it, he could not turn back.

In the end, the Demonlord ended up in a tight battle with The Reaper and one Hound of Shadow who where with the Reaper at the time, discussing plans, unknown even today.
In the tumult, Sagthor The Unleached, the Hound of Shadow, was struck by the powerful forces of the Annulus, and was utterly annihilated. Which also drained the Annulus.

The Demonlord took flight, to escape with his life intact. A few years later he ended up being butchered by a pack of Hound of Shadows, avenging their comrade.
Upon his death the Destroyer took possession of his portfolio of Demonic powers.

A mortals point of view

Whenever groups of different faiths stumbled up each other, battle erupted. The anger of the gods affected their followers, which caused mayhem in almost the whole world.

Upon the death of the Demonlord a ripple of Divine energy bursted out over the galaxy. The result was that the Divine Force was gone for approximately one hour, before it returned.
During this short time, any wielder of Divine energy was terrified.

The aftermatch

The Great War was a time of sadness, death and destruction.

The Mother, shun away into hiding, hibernating, only a small part of her conscious still active in the world. She is dying. The demonic powers still flowing through her blood.

The Magus is dead. The only remembrance being his huge black sword, point down in Arirliana. Most of the mortals think the Magus was killed by the Demonlord.
But in truth, he sacrificed himself to save the mortals, save the Arcane force.

Of the Annulus, nobody knows. The gods believe that the Shadow Lord has it in his possession.

Today, the Demonlord is almost forgotten, except by some of his very faithful worshippers, who still revere the Demonlord, and await his reborn.
